Cranio-Sacral therapy (CST)

Cranio-Sacral therapy explained

Cranio-Sacral therapy (CST) offers a distinctive stillness that allows your mind and body to rest deeply and begin to restore a natural balance.  It achieves this through the simplicity of deep listening and the application of healing touch.

The therapy improves the functioning of the autonomic nervous system.  It releases tension and restrictions held in the tissue of the body, not only in the muscles and joints, but also on a deep internal level of the viscera, via the interconnecting fascia.  Principally it enhances energy flow within the body providing a sense of overall relaxation and revitalization.

A session generally lasts about 50 mins and takes place in a quiet, private setting.  The client remains fully clothed and is in a comfortable supported position (either lying or sitting).

Who might benefit from Cranio-Sacral therapy?

CST is a potent non-forceful treatment modality with very few contra-indications.  People turn to CST for a variety of issues ranging from physical pain and discomfort, to sleeping difficulties, migraines and concussion.  Benefits of receiving CST have also been measured for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

Particular specialities for Sonja are in the treatment of chronic pain, fibromyalgia, anxiety, and PTSD.  Her physiotherapy and medical background provide an important understanding of general pathology, injury and medical interventions.

CST is inherently gentle on the body while having deep and lasting effects.  CST can be enjoyed to just feel ‘good’, and also as a way to explore the deeper levels of the ‘Self’.
